NDIS Personal Care and Daily Living Support

Help at home, delivered your way: showering, dressing, meals, medication prompts and the small daily tasks in between. The support workers who deliver it are local to you, on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich.

Showering and personal hygiene support

Showering and Personal Hygiene

Receive as much or as little help as you want with showering, bathing, shaving, hair care, oral hygiene and skincare.

  • Your routine is recorded in your support plan so each worker understands how you want things done, regardless of who is rostered.
  • Already use a shower chair, rails or other equipment? We work with what you already have in place.
  • Doors stay closed, your belongings stay where you keep them and everything happens at your pace.
  • We can support you once a day or more often, depending on your needs, preferences and funded support hours.
Tidying up as we go - vacuuming and surfaces

Tidying Up as We Go

Everyday tidying is included as part of your personal care visit, with no separate booking or additional cost.

  • We'll wash the dishes and put them away, and wipe down kitchen and bathroom surfaces.
  • Your worker can take the bins out when needed, including when collection day falls on the day of your visit.
  • We'll make the beds, clear the laundry baskets and keep the areas you use most comfortable and liveable.
  • This is not a deep-cleaning service. It's about leaving your space comfortable and avoiding unnecessary mess after your personal care routine.
Dressing and grooming support with a Hearts In Action worker

Dressing and Grooming

You choose what you want to wear. Your NDIS support worker helps with the parts that are difficult to manage alone.

  • Support can include buttons, zips, shoelaces and other tasks that may be manageable some days and more difficult on others.
  • Your worker can help with hair brushing, styling, shaving and skincare as part of your usual routine.
  • If you use adaptive clothing or techniques recommended by an occupational therapist, we follow those instructions rather than replacing them with our own approach.
  • You may want full assistance on some days and only someone nearby on others. You decide how much help you want at each visit.
Meals and mealtime support - cooking and plating up

Meals and Mealtime Support

We prepare meals with you wherever possible, rather than automatically taking over.

  • Your worker can help plan meals, prepare ingredients and build your confidence in the kitchen at your pace.
  • Support may include packed lunches, plated meals or full assistance with cooking, depending on what you need that day.
  • Mealtime plans prepared by a speech pathologist or dietitian, including modified textures, thickened fluids or specific portions, are followed as written.
  • Dietary requirements and allergies are recorded in your support plan so every worker on your team has the same information.
Medication prompts - reminders at the right time

Medication Prompts

Your support worker can remind you to take your medication at the agreed time. Decisions about your medication, dosage and timing remain with you, your pharmacist and your treating health professionals.

  • Prompts are checked against your current medication list, Webster pack or other approved medication information.
  • Each prompt is recorded in your medication log book.
  • If medication is missed or refused, your worker follows the agreed reporting process.
  • We do not adjust dosages or decide when medication should be taken.
Laundry and linen included as part of your visit

Laundry and Linen

Your worker can handle laundry and linen during your personal care visit, with no separate booking or additional cost.

  • We'll put a wash on, hang it out or dry it, then fold it and put it away the way you like.
  • Your worker can change bed linen weekly, fortnightly or on whatever routine you choose.
  • Ironing can also be included when it forms part of your usual routine.
  • These may be small everyday jobs, but having them completed consistently means there is one less thing for you to manage.

Personal Care and Daily Living FAQ

What is Assistance with Daily Life in the NDIS?

Assistance with Daily Life is the Core support category in your NDIS plan that funds help with everyday personal tasks: showering, dressing, meals, medication prompts, laundry and keeping your home liveable. If your plan includes it, this page describes exactly the kind of support it pays for.

Is personal care a Core support?

Yes. Personal care sits in your plan’s Core budget, under the category called Assistance with Daily Life. Core is the most flexible of the NDIS budgets, so within your plan’s rules the funding can move between daily living support, community access and consumables as your needs change.

What does NDIS personal care support include?

Respectful help with showering and hygiene, dressing and grooming, mealtimes, medication prompting, laundry and tidying as we go, delivered your way and recorded in your plan so every worker gets it right. Prices are capped by the National Disability Insurance Scheme Pricing Schedule 2026-27 for all NDIS personal care providers, and our free NDIS price guide lists the capped rate for every support.
