Support That Starts With You

Good support comes from people who listen and then follow through. Our Gold Coast support workers focus on building real relationships, because good care looks different for everyone.

Whether you need a hand with daily routines, someone to join you at a local event or down at the beach, or steady support while you build new skills, we start by listening to what you actually want, then build a plan around it. Your goals stay at the centre of every visit, every week.

Support here looks like whatever matters most to the person we're helping. One Gold Coast participant wanted to see monster trucks in person, so his Gold Coast support worker took him to a live show at Cbus Super Stadium, front row and full volume. Another has a standing weekly stop at his favourite spot on the Gold Coast to feed the pelicans, same spot, every time, because for him the consistency of the routine matters just as much as the outing itself.

Practical, Everyday Support

How Our Disability Support Workers on the Gold Coast Can Help

The job of a Gold Coast support worker is to make everyday life easier and more possible, not just tick off a list of funded hours. Here's what that looks like in practice for local participants and their families:

Getting to appointments, therapy sessions or the shops, on time and without the stress

A steady, familiar face for personal care and daily routines at home

Company and support to get out into the community, try new things, or catch up with friends

Encouragement and hands-on help while you build new skills and work toward your goals

Someone reliable during a rough patch, a busy week, or when a regular support isn't available

You Choose Your Worker

We introduce you to potential NDIS support workers and let you decide who's the right fit for your home and your routine. If it's not working, tell us and we'll find someone else. No awkward conversations required.

Consistent Support Workers

The support worker Gold Coast participants meet at the introduction is the one who keeps turning up, backed by a small team who already know your routine. You won't be re-explaining yourself every week.

Your Voice Matters

Your goals, preferences, and choices remain at the centre of your support. We check in regularly to make sure the plan still fits what you actually want.

Self-Managed

You manage your own funds and pay providers directly, and you can choose any provider, registered or unregistered. We're registered, so working with us is simple.

Plan-Managed

A plan manager pays providers and handles the claims and paperwork on your behalf. You can still choose registered or unregistered providers, the plan manager just takes care of the admin.

NDIA-Managed

The NDIA pays providers directly through the myplace portal, but you can only use NDIS-registered providers like Hearts In Action. If your plan is NDIA-managed, we can support you.

Understanding Your Plan

Whichever Way Your Plan Is Managed, We Can Work With You

NDIS funding rates are capped by the National Disability Insurance Scheme Pricing Schedule 2026-27. Here's how the three funding types work, and what each one means for you as a participant working with a registered NDIS provider like us.

Not sure which applies to you, or want to know what your plan actually covers? Call 07 2812 2406 and we'll talk it through. No obligation. You can also work out how long your funding will last with our free NDIS funding calculator.

Common Questions

NDIS Support Worker Gold Coast FAQ

How much does an NDIS support worker cost on the Gold Coast?

Support worker prices are capped by the National Disability Insurance Scheme Pricing Schedule 2026-27, the scheme's official price list, and your plan funds them. The capped rate depends on the support type, the day of the week and the time of day. You can look up the current capped rate for any support in our free NDIS price guide, and we'll explain exactly what applies to your plan on the phone.

What's the difference between an NDIS support worker and a disability support worker?

An NDIS support worker specifically provides supports funded through an NDIS plan, following the plan's goals and funding categories, but in practice the two terms are used interchangeably.

Can I choose my own support worker?

Yes. We introduce you to potential support workers and you decide who's the right fit, and you can request a change at any time if it's not working.

Can you work with NDIA-managed participants?

Yes. We work with self-managed, plan-managed, and NDIA-managed participants.

What areas of the Gold Coast do you service?

We cover the whole Gold Coast region, from Pimpama in the north to Coolangatta in the south, plus the hinterland. If you're on the Gold Coast, we can support you.

How quickly can a support worker start?

Most of the time we can get support started quickly, but it depends on your needs and availability in your area. We can give you a clear timeframe on your first call.

What checks do your support workers have?

Our support workers hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Check, a Blue Card, relevant qualifications such as a Certificate III in Disability Support, infection control training, and First Aid/CPR certification.

Do you provide short-notice or respite support?

Yes, subject to availability. Call 07 2812 2406 to check what we can arrange and how soon.

Do you service the whole Gold Coast?

Yes. We cover the whole Gold Coast region, from the northern suburbs through to the border and out to the hinterland.

What if my current provider isn't working out?

It's common for people to switch providers when things aren't working. We'll coordinate with your current provider so you're never left without support. Our Gold Coast provider page covers how switching works.

Is there a 2 hour minimum for NDIS supports?

Usually yes, but it doesn't come from providers or the NDIS. The SCHADS Award, the industry award that covers support workers, sets minimum engagement periods, generally two hours for this kind of work. The rule exists so workers are treated fairly and have financial security: without reliable income, good support workers leave the industry, and consistent support depends on keeping them in it. We'll always be upfront about how minimum shifts apply to your supports before anything is signed.

How do I get a support worker through the NDIS?

If you already have an NDIS plan with Core funding, it's simpler than most people expect: no referral needed. You choose a provider, meet the worker they suggest, and support starts once you're happy with the fit. Call 07 2812 2406 and we'll match you with a disability support worker Gold Coast families already trust, with an introduction before anything is signed. If you don't have an NDIS plan yet, you'd first check your eligibility and apply through the NDIA, and we're happy to point you in the right direction on the same call.

Do you have support worker jobs at Hearts In Action?

This page is for people looking for support, but we're always keen to meet great support workers. Reach out through our contact page and tell us about yourself.
