Creating Connection Through Pickleball

Get Pickld and Hearts In Action work together to make the sessions possible, combining an inclusive place to play with the support participants need to take part comfortably and confidently.

Together, we run the sessions as an NDIS group activity in Logan, giving participants another way to get out into the community, meet people and take part in something enjoyable.

Pickleball is simple to learn and easy to adapt. The court is smaller than a tennis court, the serve is underhand and new players can learn the basics quickly.

You do not need to be experienced or particularly sporty. Your support worker can help you get comfortable, learn the game and take part in a way that suits you.

Providing that support is how we cover the court hire. It is our way of giving something back to the community in collaboration with Russel from Get Pickld.

Hearts In Action is a registered NDIS provider in Logan, and Get Pickld is a short drive from Beenleigh, Springwood and other suburbs across Logan City.

The pickleball

Court hire, paddles and balls are paid for by Hearts In Action. There is nothing to pay at Get Pickld.

Your support worker

Hearts In Action pays for the court hire and the gear, so the pickleball itself costs you nothing. The only cost is your regular community access support: the hours your Hearts In Action support worker spends with you getting there, taking part and getting home.

New to Hearts In Action?

Pickleball is part of the community access support we provide, and that support is what funds the courts. The first step is a chat about joining us. Call our team and we will talk through what you are looking for.

Before You Come

Pickleball Questions

Do I need to have played pickleball before?

No. Most people arrive without knowing the rules or having held a paddle. We show you the basics and get you into a game at a pace that feels comfortable.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable clothes you can move in, closed shoes with good grip and a water bottle. Paddles and balls are provided.

Can I play from a wheelchair?

Yes. The courts are indoor and flat, and under wheelchair pickleball rules the ball can bounce twice before you return it. We adjust the pace of the game around you.

What does it cost?

Nothing for the pickleball. Hearts In Action pays for the court hire, paddles and balls. The only cost is your regular community access support, which is the time your Hearts In Action support worker spends with you. That support is how we are able to cover the courts and give back to the community.

Do we play in a group?

Yes. Pickleball is our NDIS group activity in Logan, and it runs through community access support. You come along with your Hearts In Action support worker, play alongside other participants and use your regular support hours to take part.

Can a family member or friend come with me?

Yes. One family member or friend can join you when you attend with your Hearts In Action support worker.

Do I need to be a Hearts In Action participant?

Yes. Hearts In Action pays for the court hire and the gear, and we do that by providing the support on the day. It is our way of giving something back to the community, so you attend with one of our support workers as part of your community access support. If you are not with us yet, call 07 2812 2406 and we will talk through the support you are looking for and how to get started.

Where is Get Pickld and how do I get there?

33–35 Blue Eagle Drive, Meadowbrook QLD 4131, in Logan. Your support worker can help with transport. Tell us about any access needs when you call and we will plan around them.

I live outside Logan. Can your support worker still bring me?

Yes. If you are a Hearts In Action participant on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane or in Ipswich, your support worker can bring you to Get Pickld as part of your community access support.
